This Week We Are Learning:

Math: This week we are working on our mystery class projects. It like a global game of hide and seek where students will be using clues to try and locate a class somewhere else in the world. Students are calculating photoperiods (length of day) by using information on their location’s sunrise and sunset and comparing it to Austin’s sunrise and sunset and length of day. Students will use this information and what they know about the Earth’s rotation to try and narrow where in the world (latitude/longitude) they think their class is. There are also riddle clues that will help them narrow down their class’s country/state/city! Students will present their final guesses later this week.

Science: Last week we started learning about structures and functions of living organisms and how they help animals live and survive in their environment. We are continuing our discussion this week thinking about about plants’ structures and functions. Students will now create their own super plant!
